Keppel Islands Swimming Association (KISA) was formed to encourage and promote swimming and aquatic sports and activities. KISA is proud to help unite aquatic organisations in Central Queensland in a common purpose; to promote aquatics throughout the region. Whether it’s, swimming, snorkelling, surfing, or scuba diving, aquatics is at the heart of what we do.
KISAs signature event is Swim Around Keppel. Swim Around Keppel (SAK) is an open water annual 2 day event that occurs in late winter months which includes individual 1km, 6km, 20km swims and a relay team, 20km swim. If you would like to donate, sponsor or get involved as a volunteer, swimmer, paddler or boatie, please visit www.swimaroundkeppel.com.au for more information about the event.
KISA aims to showcase our regions natural aquatic environments to the world in hopes to attract tourism as a by-product of the Swim Around Keppel event. We also hope to highlight the amazing benefits of learning to swim, as well as the phenomenal connection a person can have with our amazing planet through aquatics.
As KISA grows, we plan to host more events to continue promoting swimming and aquatics.
As a non-profit organisation, all money raised from the events goes back to the community. By establishing a “travel fund” KISA is now able sponsor young open water swimmers from the region helping them travel to the State and National events. Much of the funding is also granted to local water safety programs like Billabong Dream, educating kindergarten and primary school children on how to be safe in and around aquatic environments. We hope you join us in this new adventure for aquatics in Central Queensland.
